Avalon has long been considered the traditional place of Arthur's burial. But what if that place was actually named after someone? As an infant, Avalon is stripped of beauty so that all that remains are her dramatic green eyes. She is taught from birth that Arthur is her destiny. Out of curiosity she watches him in the magical waters of the lake and finds it impossible not to fall in love--and yet he is the king. She has nothing to offer but a pure heart. And so with the future of Camelot at stake, Arthur turns his attention toward the politically strategic Princess Guinevere and makes her his queen. In this exciting retelling of Camelot, Arthur struggles against the forces of evil until he reigns supreme, only to discover that his closest friend, Lancelot, is having an affair with his wife. Upon discovery, Camelot is forced to the brink of destruction. It's then that Arthur realizes what a fool he has been. Broken and alone, shamed before the entire kingdom, Avalon comes back into his life. With her he finds the kind of passion that he has so long sought. Raised in the shadows, subservient to the Lady of the Lake, Avalon rises above it all to become the true queen of Camelot. She is the forgotten queen ... and the sole bearer of Arthur's heart. Full of unexpected twists and turns, action, suspense, treachery, and deceit, "The Forgotten Queen" will tear at your heartstrings until the very satisfying ending.

Review
Silver Award Winner ~ Readers Favorite 2013 "Take a chance on the retelling of Camelot in "The Forgotten Queen." You won't be disappointed! 5 stars."~ Donna Wharton for Readers' Favorite
"A thoroughly enjoyable read revisiting the legend of King Arthur, but with a clever twist or two along the way, The Forgotten Queen has it all: romance, forbidden love, adventure, treachery, intrigue, magic, war and redemption, and is a perfect piece of escapism."
~Karen Perkins, Kindle Book Reviewlionheartgalleries.co.uk

From the Author
Deep down I think we all wish for a bit of Camelot, but as is written in the legend, corruption is always creeping around the corner. Of course Arthur dies in every version of the story. How can he not? Camelot can't last forever. There are too many forces trying to destroy the dream. That's why I brought Avalon to life. She's the force that keeps Arthur's vision alive. She's the resounding part of Arthur that will never die.
As a side note, I would like to point out that most of the women in the book have very few choices, all except for those who push their will beyond the norm. I wanted to remind people that women's rights are very new. It's been less than a hundred years since women were given the right to vote. As much as I love him, I can't imagine being told that my husband's point of view should suffice as my own at the polls. By modern standards, it's laughable. And yet, that was the attitude for most of the world's history.

From the Inside Flap
Avalon has long been considered the traditional place of Arthur's burial. But what if that place was actually named after a real person? Avalon. In this exciting retelling of Camelot, Arthur struggles against the forces of evil until he reigns supreme. It's then that he discover's Lancelot and Guinevere's affair. Broken and alone, shamed before the entire kingdom, Avalon comes into his life. With her he finds the kind of passion that he has so long sought. Full of action, suspense, treachery, and deceit, "The Forgotten Queen" will tear at your heart strings and make you long to go back to that time of knights, Lords, and fine Ladies.

An 'Okay' book
By J. Martin
One has to expect that a retelling of the Arthurian legends is going to introduce some new elements. I was prepared to accept names being reassigned to totally different characters (for example, Aggravaine is now Arthur's uncle, not his nephew). Re-writing heroic characters as villains, ditto. What kept on jarringly breaking my sense of belief in this retelling, however, were the anachronisms. Everyone keeps saying 'okay'. Descriptions that could have easily been given a more historical tone repeatedly used modern slang. Arthur observes that something is like the explosion of a powder keg- despite explosives not having been invented during the Arthurian era. Sure, re-write a legend...but make it true to the era in which it's set.

This is not the same old Camelot story-it is much more interesting and entertaining. I bought 2 copies and gave them to friends, they loved it too.

A captivating story!
By Amazon Customer
Annette Mackey is an extremely talented author! We've all heard the story of King Arthur, but in this book Annette manages to grasp all the "what if's" and unknowns of the legend and create a story of her own. The book is very easy to get sucked into. It has a great balance of dialogue, description, and action! The characters come to life, and you feel like you understand Arthur, Guinevere, Merlin, and Avalon much better. I really enjoyed this retelling of the legend of Arthur and I highly recommend it!!
