Engineers, inventors, and dreamers in the state of Michigan had been searching for the secret of heavier-than-air flight well before the Wright brothers’ successful flights in 1903. In 1911, the first aircraft manufacturer opened for business in Michigan. During the 1920s and 1930s, the Detroit area was known as the “Aviation Capital of America.” The All-American Aircraft Show, held annually in Detroit from 1928 to 1933, was the major showcase for introducing new airplanes to the aviation community. Major competitions, such as the Ford Air Tours (1925 to 1931) and the Cirrus Derby (1930), originated and ended at airports in Michigan. Michigan’s aircraft manufacturers made major contributions to America’s war efforts, building 1,500 Liberty planes during World War I and 8,685 B-24 bombers during World War II. In addition to those major manufacturers, a large number of individual designers and entrepreneurs toiled to build the ultimate airplane. Today the pioneering tradition lives on in the hundreds of individuals who design and build airplanes in their garage or basement.

About the Author
Robert F. Pauley has been collecting data, photographs, and drawings on the history of Michigan-built airplanes for over 50 years. His articles about Michigan’s aircraft manufacturers and the airplanes they built have appeared in numerous aviation publications. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and holds ASEL airplane and glider ratings. His career as an engine designer began in 1943 with Mack Trucks, and he later worked with Chrysler Corporation and Williams International before retiring in 1993.

A mid-nineteenth-century crisis of empire attracted the attention of British intellectuals and led to a reconception of the colonial mission, and to reforms in India, British Malaya, and the Dutch East Indies. The new politics, inspired by Sir Henry Maine, established that natives were bound by geography and custom, rather than history and law, and made this the basis of administrative practice.

Maine’s theories were later translated into “native administration” in the African colonies. Mamdani takes the case of Sudan to demonstrate how colonial law established tribal identity as the basis for determining access to land and political power, and follows this law’s legacy to contemporary Darfur. He considers the intellectual and political dimensions of African movements toward decolonization by focusing on two key figures: the Nigerian historian Yusuf Bala Usman, who argued for an alternative to colonial historiography, and Tanzania’s first president, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, who realized that colonialism’s political logic was legal and administrative, not military, and could be dismantled through nonviolent reforms.

THE indispensable guide to power management in servers

It is rare to have the people responsible for the design of complex technical systems given the opportunity to explain how those systems work (those experts are usually too busy designing new complex systems to write down the details). This book contains the deep knowledge of three such experts at Intel responsible for implementing power management in server processors. If you care about power management and really want to dig into the technical details, this book is a must read.

Guide to Multiple Fiverr Accounts

This was a veyr intersting book. I am an avid Fiverr buyer and I wondered how come a lot of the gigs seemed to be the same yet were from different sellers. I always thought that maybe people were ripping off each other's descriptions but after reading this it may just all be the same person. If you need to know how to create multiple Fiverr accounts this book will tell you all you need to know to do so successfully. I got it just out of curiousity but I am just jump into the Fiverr arena after reading this. The author sets out exactly what she aims for and gives a step by step description of how to run multiple Fiverr accounts without getting banned from the site.

I think the fact that she shared her personal details and what made her decide to jump into the murky waters of skirting the rules is what I liked best. She seems to have an interesting story that I would like to hear more about.

The book is concisely written with very little fluff which makes it a very easy read. Definitely a book that Fiverr sellers shoudl check out.

I have been looking for this information for months. anyone who wants to make serious money on Fiverr should read this book. The seller provided great information regarding setting up multiple accounts. I definitely can see me making some extra cash on Fiverr by following her advice.

About the Author
Dr Tony Merna, BSc, MPhil, PhD, graduated with a degree in Business Studies from Salford University. He gained a Master of Philosophy degree from UMIST for his work on risk management in corporate organisations. Tony recently graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy degree from UMIST for his research into the assessment of risks in portfolios of projects. Tony is currently working for Oriel Group Practice, a multi-disciplinary consultancy and research organisation based in Manchester.

Dr Faisal F. Al-Thani, BSc, MSc, PhD, is Deputy General Manger and Assistant Operations Manager of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Qatar. A petroleum engineer by profession, he has over 19 years’ experience in the planning, design, operation, maintenance and finance strategies of oil and gas projects. Faisal is currently undertaking research as part of a Fulbright award in the USA.

Deep down I think we all wish for a bit of Camelot, but as is written in the legend, corruption is always creeping around the corner. Of course Arthur dies in every version of the story. How can he not? Camelot can't last forever. There are too many forces trying to destroy the dream. That's why I brought Avalon to life. She's the force that keeps Arthur's vision alive. She's the resounding part of Arthur that will never die.
As a side note, I would like to point out that most of the women in the book have very few choices, all except for those who push their will beyond the norm. I wanted to remind people that women's rights are very new. It's been less than a hundred years since women were given the right to vote. As much as I love him, I can't imagine being told that my husband's point of view should suffice as my own at the polls. By modern standards, it's laughable. And yet, that was the attitude for most of the world's history.

An 'Okay' book

One has to expect that a retelling of the Arthurian legends is going to introduce some new elements. I was prepared to accept names being reassigned to totally different characters (for example, Aggravaine is now Arthur's uncle, not his nephew). Re-writing heroic characters as villains, ditto. What kept on jarringly breaking my sense of belief in this retelling, however, were the anachronisms. Everyone keeps saying 'okay'. Descriptions that could have easily been given a more historical tone repeatedly used modern slang. Arthur observes that something is like the explosion of a powder keg- despite explosives not having been invented during the Arthurian era. Sure, re-write a legend...but make it true to the era in which it's set.

This is not the same old Camelot story-it is much more interesting and entertaining. I bought 2 copies and gave them to friends, they loved it too.

A captivating story!

Annette Mackey is an extremely talented author! We've all heard the story of King Arthur, but in this book Annette manages to grasp all the "what if's" and unknowns of the legend and create a story of her own. The book is very easy to get sucked into. It has a great balance of dialogue, description, and action! The characters come to life, and you feel like you understand Arthur, Guinevere, Merlin, and Avalon much better. I really enjoyed this retelling of the legend of Arthur and I highly recommend it!!
