About the Author
Grover Starling is Professor of Management and Public Policy at the School of Business at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. His research interests include knowledge representation, information processing, and analogical reasoning by executives. Professor Starling is a prolific writer with numerous books and articles published. Such books include THE CHANGING ENVIRONMENT OF BUSINESS (South-Western), STRATEGIES FOR POLICYMAKING (Dorsey Press), and THE POLITICS AND ECONOMICS OF PUBLIC POLICY (Dorsey Press), and THINKING ABOUT PUBLIC POLICY (Longman, forthcoming). He has also authored dozens of scholarly articles, papers, and chapters.

Good for an undergraduate course, but not graduate

I originally thought this book was well written, especially in comparison to another text book I was using for the same class, but the further I got into it the more frustrating I became. Don't get me wrong, this is probably a great book to give a cursory overview of public management for an undergraduate course. As a graduate student, even for an introductory graduate course in public management, I think the arguments could definitely be more sophisticated.
Quality of content aside, I am also incredibly frustrated to have paid $150 for a textbook that is riddled with spelling errors and typos. It is a baseline I feel that should be expected of an academic. I can understand one or two, but Chapter 10 in particular is ridiculous.

There are numerous instances of content that was not available due to "copyright" issues. I paid money to rent this eBook-I did not steal it. I should have had access to ALL THE CONTENT.
